“Your life is an experiment.” - Robert Boustany
None of us came with a manual. We have to figure out what works for us, and what doesn’t. That being said, there is so much information out there about food, diets and what you need to do in order to become or stay healthy, that it might be overwhelming. And you don’t even begin changing your ways at all. We get it. Still, we’re here to tell you it can be done. And it doesn’t have to be as complicated as you might think.
Most importantly, you need to know that there is not a one-size-fits-all approach. You are unique, your body and constitution are unique and you need to find your own truth. To make it easier, there are a few ground rules or focus points you can use to get started.
And that’s where Robert Boustany comes in. ;) He lives quite a life. Filled with a lot of knowledge about and experience with not only yoga, but healthy living in general. Even he got cancer, so let’s not pretend that living a healthy life excludes you from getting sick. He doesn’t talk about it a lot, but he managed to get better without invasive medical intervention. Which proves that living that healthy life is essential to the resilience of your body. That’s why his experience is extremely valuable if you’re interested in changing your diet long term.
In this lecture, he talkes about a few key issues that you should take into account when targeting your eating and drinking patterns. Ayurveda for example, provides a lot of knowledge when it comes to preventing illness by looking deeply into the needs of an individual to get back into balance. Getting to know your constitution (base) and out of balance doshas (elements) can make the first steps in changing your diet very understandable.
He also talks about fats, sugars and carbs. And their myths. As well as the do's and don'ts of intermittent fasting, vitamines and essential basic foods. He also introduces a topic often forgotten when it comes to a healthy diet: when do you eat what food? An energizing approach to food intake based on the practical principles of Solar Nutrition. Because yes, you can go that deep and far and reach amazing results!
Again; the most important thing is that you stay true to yourself and what your own body needs. If you are curious what this vibrating yogi of 73 years old has to say about a yogic diet in modern western society, the replay of this online lecture is absolutely worthwhile watching. You can find it here:
We’re also happy to announce that Robert is going for round 2! On Friday 2nd July, his bimonthly lecture will be part 2 of the Yogic Diet and Lifestyle tale. Join in live to be able to ask questions, or find the replay in the video store on Yogasite TV.
Your life IS an experiment. You do have to figure it out for yourself. But know that there are life lines you can grab hold of when you get overwhelmed or don’t know where to start. Choose you. Every time.
